THE VOICE OF THE SOMALI PEOPLE

The Somali intellectuals including traditional leaders, religious groups, politicians, women and youth organizations, respectfully submit this statement to affirm that any purported or so-called “recognition of Somaliland as a sovereign state,” reportedly attributed to the Prime Minister of the State of Israel on 26 December 2025, is without legal effect and is null and void under international law.
Such a declaration, whether unilateral or political in nature, cannot alter the internationally recognized sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, as enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, relevant resolutions of the General Assembly and Security Council, and the Constitutive Act of the African Union.
However, the status of Somaliland remains an internal matter of the Federal Republic of Somalia and is subject exclusively to constitutional processes, dialogue, and international law. No external action can confer statehood outside these established legal frameworks.
