The Somali, Arabian, Nubian lithospheric plate will soon form a new continent -Scientists

April14, 2023,
Long observations from satellites have led scientists to the conclusion that Africa is falling apart in the distant future. This is indicated by a fault in the earth, which is located at the junction of three tectonic plates – the Somali, Arabian and Nubian.

The separation of African plates, writes The Jerusalem Post newspaper, will actually “cut” the second largest land in the world into two parts like a pie – a phenomenon that has not been observed for hundreds of millions of years when South America and Africa were divided into different continents.

A legitimate question may arise: what would a divided Africa look like in this case?

In the landlocked countries of the Black Continent, such as Ethiopia, Uganda and others, says Ken MacDonald, a marine geophysicist and professor emeritus at the University of California, a coastline will appear, expanding opportunities for trade and various industries. The Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea will flood the Afar region and the East African Rift Valley and become a new ocean. The split-off part of Africa will turn into a separate small continent, the researcher believes.

Meanwhile, scientists have assured that Africans will have to wait for the “end of the world” for a long time. According to researcher Sarah Stamps, the fracture rate is currently only a few millimeters per year, so it will take millions of years before new oceans begin to form.
